Conservatory
The Conservatory is our institution for theatre arts training. The Conservatory features an array of classes and programs in the performing arts, for students of all ages. The NCTC Conservatory also provides camps and training-based initiatives, as well as the Apprentice Company and Youth Ensemble. Conservatory programming is overseen by our highly qualified Teaching Artists.
Conservatory Classes & Theatre Arts Training
Introductory classes, private instruction, and everything in-between! Classes are available for all disciplines of performance and range from toddler to young adult. Start your child off with a course in exploring fairytales and magic, and soon they'll be attending our all-star improvisation class. Specialized programming, including classes in college prep and advanced technique, will also be made available.
The NCTC Summer Camp is offered in two different sessions, for two separate age groups. In Camp, the kids will spend half of their day participating in themed age-appropriate workshops and further honing their craft. For the other half, they will be immersed with musical theatre rehearsals – learning songs, choreography, and scenes. The Camp culminates with performances for family & friends.
Theatre Arts Connection (T.A.C.)
The Theatre Arts Connection offers a life-changing opportunity for experiencing the power of the arts, through specialized classes and workshops for the youth of the Northeast with physical, cognitive, and developmental delays. Programming is carefully crafted to allow for the youth to enjoy acting, singing, and dance, while continually developing their communication skills, speech, and gross motor development. Our educators, specially trained to assist T.A.C., will provide a strong support system for the participants.
The NCTC Apprentice Company is the premier pre-professional company for performers. The apprenticeship provides a yearlong experience in training, performance, artistic guidance, and industry exposure. Apprentice members work closely with our professionals and will even perform alongside these artists in our season! The apprenticeship company is open to high school students, who must be accepted based on an audition & interview process.
The NCTC Youth Ensemble is a precursor to apprenticeship. Members spend the year learning the techniques of performance and are exposed to the demanding art at an intermediate level. Depending on the season, the Ensemble may assist in professional productions. Senior members of apprenticeship partner with the Ensemble, and have the opportunity to lead a mentorship in what is an enlightening experience for all. Each term culminates with a performance.
